“An outdoor therapeutic support service for young people and families.”
What to expect
One to one sessions for 8-18 year olds are tailored to the individuals specific learning and development needs. An introductory meeting will be made for an informal chat about the interests of the young person. We will discuss any existing plans and goals in place for them that the sessions can also support. It is important to include what the young person would like to get out of the sessions to make them as useful and enjoyable as possible.
The session is at the individuals pace allowing time for exploration and is a safe space to build a trusting relationship through open communication. The shoulder to shoulder approach in a shared activity reduces pressure on social interactions and creates a supportive environment to build trust. The children are empowered by being given tools and strategies which over time help them grow confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
Mindfulness techniques are one example of a tool introduced through different activities in the sessions. Mindfulness is awareness of our 5 senses, our environment, our interconnectedness and of our thoughts and feelings.
